Al’Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies is a biannual, double-anonymous, peer-reviewed academic journal focusing on Islam, civil society, and religious movements. The journal promotes interdisciplinary scholarship on how Muslim communities, religious institutions, Islamic ideas, and practices shape social and public life. Its principal areas of interest include Muslim civil society and religious communities, Islamic religious movements and religious authority, and Islam, citizenship, and society–state relations.
The journal publishes original empirical, historical, theoretical, conceptual, normative, and comparative research addressing local, national, transnational, and global contexts. It welcomes scholarship in Islamic law, Qur’anic and Hadith studies, education, philosophy, ethics, history, and related fields when such research contributes substantively to its central scholarly interests. Through rigorous academic inquiry and critical engagement with relevant scholarship, the journal seeks to advance understanding of Islam’s place in contemporary societies and public life.
Al'Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies is a journal published by the Center for Research and Community Service (LP2M) Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Jember since April 8, 1998—now Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq of Jember, Indonesia. This journal has been published in the printed version since 1998 based on Decree No.04.94/IV.3.05/ISSN/1998. Then, on May 29, 2019, this journal was registered with e-ISSN: 2684-8368 p-ISSN: 1410-7406 since volume 22 issue 1 (2019) was published online (open access) with a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) number by CrossRef.
