Publication Fee

Publication Fee

1. Article Submission Fee

Al’Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies does not charge any submission fee. Authors may submit manuscripts for editorial screening and peer review without payment.

2. Article Processing Charge (APC)

Al’Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies is a fully open-access journal. All published articles are freely accessible to readers without subscription fees or access charges. To support editorial management, copyediting, DOI registration, layout and PDF production, online publication, and the maintenance of the journal's digital publishing infrastructure, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 2,000,000 per accepted article applies. The APC is charged only after a manuscript has received formal acceptance following the journal's editorial evaluation and peer review process. No payment is required during submission, editorial screening, or peer review.

3. APC Waiver Policy

Al’Adalah: Journal of Islamic Studies grants a full APC waiver (100%) to accepted manuscripts whose primary corresponding author, as designated in the journal's submission system at the time of initial submission, is a non-Indonesian citizen. Waiver eligibility is determined by the citizenship of the designated corresponding author, regardless of the nationality or institutional affiliation of the other co-authors. Affiliation with an institution outside Indonesia does not, by itself, establish eligibility for an APC waiver. For manuscripts with more than one corresponding author, the primary corresponding author recorded in the journal's submission system determines waiver eligibility. Authors must designate the corresponding author accurately during submission. Any subsequent change must comply with the journal's Authorship and Contributions policy. Changes made solely to obtain an APC waiver are not permitted.

4. Waiver Application and Verification

Eligible corresponding authors should request the waiver through the journal's submission system or official editorial contact after formal acceptance and before completing the APC payment process. The corresponding author must provide a declaration confirming their non-Indonesian citizenship. The journal may request reasonable supporting information when necessary to verify eligibility, while respecting personal data protection and confidentiality. Waiver requests are assessed administratively and independently of editorial decisions. Once eligibility has been confirmed, the APC is waived in full, and no publication payment is required.

5. Editorial Independence

APC payments, waiver eligibility, and financial considerations do not influence editorial screening, reviewer selection, peer review, manuscript acceptance, or rejection decisions. All submissions are evaluated according to their scholarly merit, originality, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal's Focus and Scope, and compliance with publication ethics requirements. The journal maintains a separation between editorial decision-making and the administration of publication fees and waivers.

6. Payment Procedures

Authors whose manuscripts are accepted and are not eligible for an APC waiver will receive payment instructions through the journal's official communication channels. Payment is requested only after formal acceptance. Articles subject to an APC proceed to publication after payment confirmation, while articles granted a full waiver proceed without payment.

7. Transparency of Publication Charges

The journal does not charge a manuscript submission fee. Under this policy, the stated APC is the only mandatory publication charge for accepted manuscripts that do not qualify for a waiver. The APC supports publication-related services and does not purchase favorable editorial consideration or guarantee manuscript acceptance. All published articles remain freely accessible to readers regardless of whether an APC was paid or waived.
